Memorabilia is also known by its Latin title Commentarii and a variety of English translations (Recollections, Memoirs, Conversations of Socrates, etc.) Here's an older English translation (1762) by Sarah Fielding, perhaps more painstakingly literal than H. G. Dakyns', but I like it better...

Gee, you stayed up until 3am your time, just to prove your point? Well, you did, and for that alone you deserve many thanks. ;-) Now, try to catch some z's, dude! Your health matters more to me and the rest of us.

Are you sure, Sarant? Did you even look? Where? ...did you look good? How about the high-school bookshelf? Not yet? That's all right, I just did for you. It's the easiest book to find. The one with the longest title? Yep, that's it! Here you go...

Are you sure? Because that's exactly how this resin works. According to Rohm & Haas: Each ion going into the [resin] bead has to be replaced by an ion getting out of the bead, again to preserve electrical neutrality. This is what is called ion exchange. Only ions of the same electric sign are...

Danke, Doc. And no, that message is not useless at all (a) it provides a link to an existing translation from an otherwise authoritative source, and (b) it warns translators not to take Eur-Lex results at face value

Thx for confirming, Palavra. [DOC just removed his comment? While I was answering him?] Thx Doc, yeah I saw that Eur-Lex hit too [πολυϊωδιούχες ρητίνες]. But you google that and what d'you get? Just that ONE result only! What does that mean, Bob? It means your antennas should start quivering...

daeman boy, you crack me up, you know that, right? In fact, you're officially a rock star now! Dude, you know that "opinions" are only as good as the facts they're based on. I'm still to see some evidence of your opinion. It wouldn't be a nicety, it's a necessity. As I said, I can't document...

That's good to know, Cougr. Looks like this legal term applies universally to the UK and its Commonwealth states. In the US, the admissibility of evidence is governed by the Federal Rules of Evidence and much like Australia's voir dire procedure, it precedes presentation before a jury.

Gee, that's standard business dude! What's crazy is the $89 billion Americans are spending on BLACK FRIDAY this year! But what knocked my socks off, is the fact that Black Friday, an old American shopping event, has already been copied by so many countries across the world. From Canada all the...

That's right, dharvatis. Forgot to mention that too. BUT...I haven't found any hits on ιωδιούχες ρητίνες anywhere, just ιωδιούχα ανιόντα. Which is why I believe polyiodide qualifies the anions not the resins.

Good job, Alex. Indeed, you can mix and match word segments to check terms online. I got ιωδιούχα ανιόντα Then came ρητίνη ανταλλαγής ανιόντων per Eur-Lex. So, if you combine that with Alex's input, you get ρητίνες ανταλλαγής πολυιωδιούχων ανιόντων, and you're good to go, girl! ;=)

That's about right, Nickel. Only in English we drop the first "e" and spell it voir dire Jury selection is a 2-step process, really--speaking from experience, not only as juror, but as a federal court interpreter too. Step 1: κλήρωση ενόρκων (randomly) Step 2: πρόκριση ενόρκων (I just made...

η εκάστοτε κυβέρνηση = the government of the day

εκάστοτε Hmm, a word that comes with a myriad ways of rendering depending on what follows it, e.g. οι εκάστοτε περιστάσεις = the circumstances at hand τα εκάστοτε ισχύοντα τιμολόγια = [...] Kaiser (ασφαλιστική εταιρία) shall charge to Customer its then applicable rates for the Services rendered...

Thx for the comma tip, Nickel. That, I didn't know. Admittedly, when writing in Greek, I do tend to use the English punctuation rules, don't I? ;-) However, I do try to remember that in Greek, comma follows quotation marks while in English it precedes them! «Τα ξαναλέμε», απάντησε. "See you...

That's right, Doc. Just that one sense only. Nickel and all, thx for going through my examples. I'm trying to exhaust all possible options! κατατάσσομαι (στο στρατό) is fine with me, but I think keeping the preposition together with the verb might be a more accurate option to grab for the...

Thx a million to both of you, folks ;-) In fact, I just added your valuable feedback to my Translation Challenges file. Below are all the Greek renditions of join collected so far, listed by context for future users: JOIN (verb)
