I should explain ... I thought there was an idiom there in the όργανα thread, like the " tired old record" idiom, " you sound like a broken old record" - except we're now banging the same old drums, νταούλια, playing the same old tune/instrument όργανο - instead - I.e., we're rehashing old...

Query: η φράση πάλι άρχισαν τα όργανα/τα νταούλια/τα μπουζούκια ... μπορεί να ερμηνευθεί και ως: here we go again/we've heard it all before --- a jaded and uninspired rehash with lots of noise/fanfare and no substance;

Τώρα που το ανέφερε ο Θησέας - έχω ακούσει και τις ακόλουθες φράσεις ... "άρχισαν τα νταούλια/τα μπουζούκια/τα κλαρίνα" . Σημαίνουν ένα και το ίδιο πράγμα; Might as well kill four things at once.

And here is the quicksand metaphor's colloquial (but phrasal) counterpart. I'll let this uncouth guy explain it....

Δεν ξέρω αν ταιριάζει και ολισθηρή πορεία ;.. the quicksand metaphor brings to mind (mine, anyway) the "slippery slope" idiom - and also the "hiding to nowhere/nothing" idiom - i.e., a sticky or precarious situation - a pickle - where a successful outcome is impossible.

Incidentally, in case you're wondering, I meant subject - υποκειμενο (και όχι ουσιαστικό). The subject noun, at least.

There is some symmetry here with "it’ll come out tomorrow", meaning the draw/results will come out tomorrow = "αύριο βγαίνει (η κλήρωση)". Similarly not the best English; but it’s more than acceptable (in English, anyway).
