Ο ρόλος μιας κολοστομίας μπορεί να είναι προστατευτικός, όταν περιφερικότερα αυτής υπάρχει κάποια επισφαλής αναστόμωση ή ανάγκη για επούλωση μιας περιοχής του εντέρου, ή θεραπευτικός, όταν περιφερικότερα της κολοστομίας υπάρχει παθολογική κατάσταση (π.χ. καρκίνος) η οποία δεν επιτρέπει τη διέλευση των κοπράνων . Τέλος, μπορεί να αποτελεί μόνιμη λύση (μη αντιστρεπτό), όπως π.χ. όταν έχει εκταμεί ο πρωκτός.

Με πάει στην αντιστροφή αυτό, αφού αποδίδει (υποθέτω) το irreversible colostomy. Αλλά είναι μοναδικό εύρημα, ενώ μηδενικά είναι τα ευρήματα για αναστρέψιμη ή αντιστρέψιμη.

Θα πρότεινα κατάργηση κολοστομίας. Εναλλακτικά (ή συμπληρωματικά) μπορεί να σου χρησιμεύσει η αποκατάσταση της φυσιολογικής γαστρεντερικής οδού.

I'd just like to add that even though the terms take-down and reversal are typically used interchangeably in the context of various surgical procedures, there is a difference of nuance in the terms and many doctors and surgeons on occasions will advisedly use the term take-down rather than reversal because in many instances, where such procedures are concerned, a significant part of the viscera/organs involved have been previously destroyed or cut out. Hence to use the term reversal would be somewhat of a misnomer and potentially misleading in such cases.

I suspect (with a modicum of salt) that this may be a reason as to why -in the case of a colostomy reversal/takedown- one doesn't often come across the terms αντιστροφή/αναστροφή κολοστομίας but rather encounters expressions such as κατάργηση κολοστομίας, επανασύνδεση του εντέρου, αποκατάσταση της εντερικής συνέχειας and the like.
