Γεια σας,
Γνωρίζει κανείς πώς λέμε στα Ελληνικά "High Dutch" και "Low Dutch";
Ενώ η Αγγλική Wiki έχει άρθρα πάνω στο θέμα, όταν το αναζητώ στα Ελληνικά.... τζίφος.
Dutch, High Dutch and Low: used to represent different dialects or very similar languages with
different vocabulary items. Until the mid-1600s, the languages of Dutch and German people were
both referred to in English as Dutch (from the German Deutsch). English speakers differentiated
between the two by calling the Dutch from the area that is today the Netherlands Low Dutch because
it was spoken in the lowlands near the sea and the Dutch of the Germans High Dutch because it was spoken at higher elevations and in the mountains. Eventually, Dutch came to refer only to the language and people of the Netherlands and the terms were no longer used.
