This is a sentence which has prevented me from making a good translation of it into Greek because I don’t know the best Greek for ‘stuck’ in this context nor do I know the Greek for ‘in the back of beyond/in the sticks’. I know there is a good equivalent but I don’t remember it. It isn’t the ones that AI suggests viz.
στην άκρη του κόσμου or
στη μέση του πουθενά.
For the latter is it perhaps στου διαόλου τη μάνα;
But that is a bit offensive but perhaps correct in this context.
The context is that I was stuck with a school party in Delphi because our coach had broken down. The driver was ok because he lived near Delphi. To cut a long story short, we eventually found a very, very kind old lady whose son own the local ‘night club’ and she and her family were extremely hospitable and provided us with food and mattresses in the ‘night club’.
