Για το shadow copies, χρησιμοποιείται η απόδοση σκιώδη αντίγραφα. Επομένως προτείνω για εδώ: σκιώδης χώρος. Αν πρόκειται για «χώρο για σκιώδη αντίγραφα», ίσως να χρειάζεται η πιο φλύαρη απόδοση.

Netboot Basics
Without getting mired in the details, here are the bare basics of Netboot:
First you must prepare your boot image. You can either build a stock image from an installer DVD or a custom one from an existing Mac.
When the client boots it finds the Netboot server, and then boots off of the image we prepared earlier.
The boot image is a read-only volume to the client Macs, so how do we deal with preference changes and such at a user level? Well, with Mac OS X, and Macintosh Manager before it, we can use home folders in order to store this stuff. OK, but what about non-preference items like VM swap and disk burning caches? For this we dip into a really cool area of disk imaging technology, shadow files.
Shadow Images
It should come as no surprise to regular readers that I like disk images, and shadow files are a really cool thing. What a shadow allows you to do is mount a read-only image as a read-write volume. Any apparent changes to the master image are actually written through to the shadow file. You can then remount the master again with a different shadow and it's like a new drive. Switch back to your first shadow and it's like you mounted the "original" volume again. When Apple was developing Netboot for Mac OS 8 clients, they implemented shadow files to allow users to make apparent changes to the read-only boot images. This is much how Netboot still functions today. (Actually, us old timers will remember the very first Netboot server that not only required a shadow for each client, but also a private copy of the boot image! Talk about scaleability challenges...)
Για απόδοση, δεν έχω ιδέα. Ο σκιώδης χώρος μού φαίνεται σωστός και είναι αντιστρέψιμος, άρα αμέσως αναγνωρίσιμος από τους γνώστες που θα το χρειαστούν, αλλά χέρι στη φωτιά δε βάζω. Πάλευα πριν στο τζάκι και κάηκα.
Με την ευκαιρία, έχει κι άλλη σημασία, σε εντελώς διαφορετικό τομέα.
