Έχω μια φράση που λέει: I became a Gator at the University of Florida.

Το μόνο που βρίσκω για τη λέξη gator είναι πως αποτελεί συντομογραφία του Alligator. Δεν τη βρίσκω σε κανένα λεξικό. :curse:
Μήπως κάποιος από σας έχει κάτι υπόψη του;

Hi, looks like we replied together oliver twisted !
Depending on the context it might specifically relate to the ( University of Florida's) athletic team/teams or to the wider theme of "Gator Nation" which embraces athletes, students, lecturers, former students even university sponsors, who are all considered"Gators".
I found this link re: the Gator Nation theme.. see the third entry from the bottom entitled NEW UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA TV SPOT BREAKS TRADITION which opens up a document when you click it, which goes on to explain the (university's) theme/concept of "Gator Nation", based on the "pay it forward" principle.
