This is an idiomatic expression used in British English semi-humorously with a touch of self-deprecation. It is something that you say in order to make a joke that something you have to do or something that you are is a punishment for being bad, e.g.
-I'm organising the office Christmas party this year for my sins.
-I'm a fan of Olympiakos for my sins.
Is there an obvious Greek equivalent phrase?
 
Με βάλανε [χώσανε] να διοργανώσω το χριστουγεννιάτικο πάρτι στο γραφείο. Τι αμαρτίες πληρώνω ο έρμος (θα 'θελα να 'ξερα)!

Τι αμαρτίες πληρώνω (ρε καρντάσι) και μ' έχει κάνει παοκτσή η ζωή!
