In a speech to reporters at the White House this evening, using rhetoric eerily reminiscent of the narrative used in his quest for Greenland, the president expressed a strong desire for the United States to acquire or take control of Madagascar, citing national security concerns and strategic positioning whilst also suggesting the acquisition would provide "economic security" through access to nickel* and other critical and rare earth minerals and resources, warning that the U.S. would take control "the hard way" if necessary...

During the press conference, Trump twice referred to Madagascar as Magadascar prompting a reporter to correct him. This led to a tense and awkward moment, with Trump responding sharply, "well, I can call it Magadascar, we'll rename it Magadascar, we'll even rename the movie to Magadascar. It's an apt name, don't you think?...
