Ρήση του αλχημιστή φιλόσοφου Gerhard Dorn. Δυσκολεύομαι να το αποδώσω, κυρίως επειδή με μπερδεύει το δεύτερο σκέλος της φράσης. Εσείς τι καταλαβαίνετε;

Απ' ό,τι καταλαβαίνω, επειδή είναι αλχημιστής και κάνει πειράματα, λέει ότι δεν θα κάνεις κανένα πείραμα πάνω σε άλλους πριν το κάνεις στον εαυτό σου.
Διάβασε τι λέει εδώ για τα πειράματα που οφείλουμε να κάνουμε πρώτα στον εαυτό μας.

Από τη χρήση του things στο μεγάλο απόσπασμα, από το δεύτερο μικρό τσιτάτο, και από όσο κατάλαβα από το διαγώνιο πέρασμα του βιογραφικού του, νομίζω ότι το νόημα του αποφθέγματος που σε απασχολεί είναι μια προσαρμογή του «ο συ μισείς, ετέρω...», με άλλα λόγια, «μην προσπαθήσεις να μετατρέψεις κάποιον (ή κάτι) σε αυτό που θέλεις (τη φιλοσοφική λίθο, ίσως, κατά το δεύτερο τσιτάτο) εφόσον δεν τα έχεις καταφέρει πρώτα για τον εαυτό σου».

Ναι, έτσι ακριβώς πρέπει να είναι. Με μπέρδευε όμως η απουσία της λέξης things από την παραπομπή της συγγραφέως (το βιβλίο που μεταφράζω έχει θέμα τις σχέσεις, οπότε το μυαλό μου πήγαινε στους άλλους ανθρώπους και κατ' επέκταση στον Άλλο).

Μια και μιλάμε για αλχημεία, νομίζω πως αυτό που λέει είναι ότι αυτό που αναζητεί ο αλχημιστής (να παρασκευάσει τη φιλοσοφική λίθο) πρώτα πρέπει να το κάνει μέσα του (εσωτερική αλχημεία= γινόμενος Ένας) και μετά θα μπορέσει να το κάνει και με τα πράγματα του κόσμου (μέταλλα κλπ.)
