Η επόμενη ερώτηση αφορά την απόδοση του όρου "high concept":

High concept, in film or art in general, is a term used to refer to a succinctly stated premise describing the overall idea of production in just a few sentences or less.
The term is also applied, often disparagingly, to films that are pitched and developed almost entirely upon such a simply stated premise rather than standing upon complex character study, cinematography, or other strengths that relate more to the artistic execution of a production rather than simply an engaging high concept premise with broad appeal.

Στο κείμενό μου, το έβαλα προσωρινά "ευφυής σύλληψη", αναρωτιέμαι όμως αν η σύλληψή μου είναι όντως "ευφυής"! :)

Για να μην πούμε «βασικό κόνσεπτ» (και ντραπώ πάλι, όπως για το φραντσάιζ), θα πω «κεντρική ιδέα».


Για την αρνητική χρήση, σε θέση επιθέτου, σκέφτομαι «μονοδιάστατη», ίσως «μονοθεματική», αλλά υπάρχει και κάτι άλλο που δεν ανεβαίνει στην επιφάνεια αυτή τη στιγμή.

"Story ideas, treatments and screenplays can all have High Concept premises. But only High Concept projects can be sold from a pitch because they are pitch driven. Non-High Concept projects can’t be sold from a pitch because they are execution driven. They have to be read to be appreciated and their appeal isn’t obvious by merely running a logline past someone. This is the reason why films like “Pulp Fiction,” “Star Wars” and “Sideways” could never be sold from a pitch.

In defining High Concept, we talk about the premise of your story, not what happens in Acts 1, 2 and 3. The premise or logline is the core of High Concept. "

Νομίζω ότι δεν μπορούμε να ξεφύγουμε πολύ από το πρωτότυπο. Έξυπνο κόνσεπτ, έξυπνη ιδέα ή χάι κόνσεπτ είναι μερικά που μου έρχονται στο μυαλό, αλλά εγώ μάλλον το high concept films θα το έλεγα "οι ταινίες της βασικής ιδέας", γιατί αυτό είναι που τις διαφοροποιεί από τις άλλες. Ή θα το άφηνα αμετάφραστο.
