ενεργητική κατάσταση θέασης/παθητική κατάσταση θέασης = active spectatorship, passive spectatorship;
I think ενεργή/ παθητική θέαση should suffice for these.
I also saw "spectatorship" as the "state of spectating" ... not just "the state of being a spectator."

How would best translate, for instance ... (δεν χρησιμέυει η "κατάσταση θέασης," εδώ ; ).
"by interacting with the audience, the actress transformed it from a "passive state of spectating" to an active role of participation?

I think that the same word would be suitable for both. I don'ty really think there is a difference beteen the state of being a spectator and the state of spectating (watching a spectacle).
