Δεν έχω γκαφρά για βρομά

This week we have been studying Greek money and several idioms have been given us. We have been given several slang terms which our teacher has not advised us to use since they may sound inept in the mouths of older people. One such term is γκαφρά but I have come across the phrase is δεν έχω γκαφρά για βρομά. I don’t know what it is supposed to mean. Since my present oldish tablet no longer can access slang.gr, I am asking the question on lexilogia. Does it mean “I don’t have money to burn” or some more graphic expression?

This is so-called «ποδανά», a greek version of Pig Latin, more or less:
γκαφρά για βρομά means φράγκα για μάβρο [=μαύρο], i.e. I don't have money to buy weed...

Honestly, I cannot think of anyone of any age using that type of language, teenagers seem to use their own version of English and shun greek anyway.

Joking aside, though, you're mostly right in that you'll probably never hear anyone constructing entire sentences like the one I just wrote, but you'll definitely hear words such as λεφί, γκαφρά, τσοσμπά etc. if you hang around with the right wrong people…

Hell, let's not forget Locomondo's lyric Έχει κέφια ο Drogba, πίνω μπάφους και παίζω pro / και φέρνει βόλτες ο φοσμπά, πίνω μπάφους και παίζω pro… (And by the way, personally, I don't like those guys at all, but that tune was playing virtually everywhere around 2010, and has left a footprint of its own in Greek pop culture…)

Also, PAOK fans (or at least some of them) used to have an entire chant in ποδανά since long before that, but I'm not sure lexilogia is the place to recite it…
